The first generation of Move wireless audio systems was introduced by Sonos back in 2019. And then there was information that Sonos is preparing to introduce the second generation of the popular model, which will be called the Move 2.
Sonos promises major updates to the autonomous wireless speaker. In particular, the speaker will provide stereo sound. In addition, Sonos claims to improve the sound quality of the audio system.
The battery life of the Sonos Move 2 will reportedly increase from 10 to 24 hours. You can easily arrange a party for a day without connecting to the network. In addition, the Move 2 will support Bluetooth version 5.0 and WiFi 6 wireless interfaces. A USB-C port is provided for wired connection of audio sources and for charging the built-in battery.
Like the first generation of the speaker, the Sonos Move 2 meets the IP56 standard for dust and water resistance, which means that the speaker will survive rain or windy conditions without loss. Like its predecessor, the Sonos Move 2 does not support Google Assistant, offering either Amazon Alexa or its own Sonos Voice.
The Sonos Move 2 wireless audio system is rumored to be available in the US at the end of September for a suggested retail price of $449 , $50 more than the current price of the first generation speaker.
That is, the speaker will be comparable in price to the Sonos Era 300 with support for surround sound. However, the possibility of autonomous use may well justify such a price. The Sonos Move 2 can be used in the living room or at a picnic, eliminating the need to purchase two devices.
