At the High End Show 2023 in Munich, GoldenEar unveiled the second generation of the T 66 active bass floorstanding loudspeakers . This is the first model update since the acquisition of the brand by well-known cable manufacturer AudioQuest .

The configuration of the speakers in the second generation has not changed – the high-frequency spectrum is served by an AMT ribbon tweeter, the midrange is entrusted to a pair of 4.5-inch radiators that implement the D’Appolito scheme with the tweeter. The bass foundation is created by a pair of long-throw elliptical drivers driven by 1.2kW class D amplifiers.

In addition, the low-frequency section is reinforced by two large passive radiators with square cones mounted on the sides of the speaker cabinet. For obvious reasons, all internal wiring of the GoldenEar T66 is done with AudioQuest cables.

The crossover uses proprietary components from the AudioQuest Niagara series, the sealed midrange and tweeter enclosure is now lined with cotton and wool, and new perforated protective grills are required by the manufacturer to remain in place during playback. Even the cast base and vibration-isolating legs of the acoustics have undergone modernization.

The GoldenEar T 66 speakers should go on sale in August or September 2023. The suggested retail price of the speaker in mahogany finish is $7,300 for a pair of speakers. Acoustics in black will cost a little less – $ 7,000 .
