Campfire Audio Astrolith: In-ear headphones boasting pure planar architecture

Campfire Audio Astrolith
Campfire Audio Astrolith

The Campfire Audio Astrolith represents the pinnacle of IEM technology with a pure planar architecture. Expanding the Campfire line of planar headphones, the Astrolith includes two new drivers tuned with PPR and AAOI. Combining the benefits of planar magnetic drivers with years of acoustic engineering experience, it opens a new horizon in the world of planar magnetic IEMs.

Advanced Acoustic Engineering
Campfire Audio has developed several unique acoustic technologies specifically for the miniature Astrolith planar magnetic drivers. The 6mm tweeter presented a special challenge for the CFA engineering team. To achieve the required performance, it was necessary to create new acoustic components from scratch. A Phase Particle Resonator (PPR) was developed to correct the tweeter’s phase and frequency response. Without the PPR, the use of a 6mm tweeter would not be possible.

Astrolith: Unrivaled Experience
Astrolith combines the benefits of a planar magnetic design with fine-tuning from Campfire’s acoustic engineers. This ensures the highest speed and accuracy without excessive harshness and fatigue, as well as excellent separation, detail and dynamic range from 5Hz to ultra-high frequencies.

Components
Enclosure. The Astrolith enclosure is unique due to its optically inclusive internal chambers in a transparent shell. This creates a jewel-like effect, allowing the internal structure to be seen from different angles. The enclosure appears black from a distance, but upon close inspection reveals the light and structure within.

The Astrolith features a high-quality stainless steel cover with a mirror finish and a new terraced design. This piece is machined from a single piece of metal using a CNC process and hand polished.

Drivers. The Astrolith combines a 14.2mm planar magnetic main driver, covering the range from sub-bass to midrange, with a 6mm planar tweeter, creating a full-range dual planar design. This highlights the purity of speed, precision, impact and resolution that only a planar magnetic driver can deliver.
