Audiolab was founded in 1983 by Philip Swift and Derek Scotland, who were unhappy with the state of things in the industry. Audiolab’s first product was the 8000A integrated amplifier, which successfully launched the new company.
Audiolab is one of the pillars of the British hi-fi industry. The company dates back to 1980, when the first 8000A amplifier went on sale. After multiple changes of owners and even names – from 1997 to 2004, components were released under the TAG McLaren Audio brand; today the brand is part of the International Audio Group and continues to operate under its historical name. The company still produces electronic equipment of a classic design and reasonable price, addressed to lovers of high-quality sound who value a conservative approach to audio. Following the success of the 8000A, the company expanded its line, introducing the company’s signature products – the 8000S remote control amplifier, the company’s best-ever FM tuner 8000E, the 8000PPA phono preamplifier and the best monoblock amplifier of its time, the 8000M.
In 1997, Audiolab was acquired by TAG McLaren, which introduced a line of products under a new name of the highest quality – the main ones were AV processors, acoustics and High End class DVD players. In 2004, the company was sold again – the brand passed to IAG, which returned the company’s previous name and reduced its product line, concentrating on the most important things. In 2010, the 8200 series was introduced – a change to the 8000 line, which managed to establish itself well among audio enthusiasts. The new series, thanks to engineering developments, high-quality components and a traditional approach to building High-End sound, has retained everything that made the 8000 series loved, and introduced something new, which made it possible to reveal the full potential of audio recording and convey the smallest nuances of sound.
Design features that allow Audiolab equipment to remain at the peak of accurate sound reproduction for many years without a fundamental change in the model range are constantly being improved in the company’s English laboratory under the leadership of Hi-Fi veteran Jamie Kelly. The invaluable experience of designers and refined production technologies make the audio components of this company a real symbol of precision, relevance and durability. The company is not just guided by the highest quality criteria in the development and production of audio electronics – Audiolab creates new standards…
