Infinity Corporation was founded in 1968 in California by Arnie Nudell and John Ulrick. As company representatives often note, Design, Technology and Functionality are exactly what distinguishes Infinity products from the products of any other brand. And these are not just words: Infinity Corporation has repeatedly won prestigious awards at various world competitions. Infinity’s major discoveries are based on the work of many laboratories and research centers: new materials are studied, new production methods are developed, and a new concept of sound reproduction culture is formulated.
1967 – Infinity is founded in California by Arnie Nudell and John Ulrick. August 1968 – Infinity is incorporated as a fully independent company. At this time, the factory in Chatsworth, California began operating. In 1978, IRS loudspeakers were presented at CES (Consumer Electronics Show) in Chicago. They are almost immediately recognized as one of the best sounding speakers ever released. They have made the “best buy” list of virtually every audiophile magazine around the world.
In 1982, Infinity was acquired by Harman. And Arnie Nudell remains with the company as president. Major discoveries of Infinity Corporation are based on the work of many laboratories and research centers: new materials are studied, new production methods are developed, and a new concept of sound reproduction culture is formulated. The company’s activities today are concentrated in 2 main areas: Infinity acoustics for home and car acoustics. More developed and more in demand, of course, is the first industry – components of Infinity acoustic systems for the home. In this area, the company adheres to the main idea – technology should suit people in everything and should fit harmoniously into their lifestyle. Therefore, Infinity Corporation specialists are thinking through any option, any solution that might be of interest to this or that buyer.
In the vast majority of cases, great loudspeaker systems are the result of evolving, using and improving on the best that has already been achieved. However, the Infinity speakers are an example of a powerful and very beautiful new product. For 40 years, Infinity has been advancing the science of audio reproduction, innovation after innovation. If our first product in 1968 – an innovative electrostatic loudspeaker with a servo-controlled subwoofer – gave hope that sonic perfection in recording playback was achievable, our newest Infinity Prelude Forty system put all doubts to rest.
Infinity’s first 40 years were a process of continually creating a consistent line of cornerstone systems and technical improvements that were not only critically acclaimed, but also widely adopted by competitors. All this was made possible thanks to a desire that has not disappeared for half a century to optimally combine technology, efficiency and design.
