The British company IOTA Enterprises Limited began its activities under the Nakamichi brand, having close relations with the Grande Group, which is the holder of licenses for several brands (including Nakamichi); but when it came time to renew the license agreement, it turned out that the cost of the license exceeded the budget for developing new products.
Although it seemed like a very risky move, it seemed reasonable to Jan Vermeulen to abandon a brand that was more interested in profits than in the quality of its product and reputation.
