Audio Analogue ABsolute Line Preamplifier: Flagship preamplifier

The new Class A mono power amplifier from the Italian audio manufacturer is the ABsolute Monoblock, weighing 72 kilograms. It requires the ABsolute Line Preamplifier to drive it effectively, which is a reference-level preamplifier weighing 22 kilograms.

The latest top-of-the-line preamplifier draws on Audio Analogue’s extensive expertise and the subsequent refinement of high-quality preamplifier design. The ABsolute Line Preamplifier is equipped with a duo of 50 Watt transformers at the core of its power supply. These transformers are meticulously shielded from magnetic and electrostatic interference, and are coated with resin for added protection.

The entire signal circuit is dual mono and works without global feedback. The circuit topology works completely differential. The printed circuit boards with the signal circuits are mechanically isolated from the power supply circuits.

All source inputs are via high-quality relays, but that is not unusual in better preamplifiers. The volume control is also based on relay circuits and very precise resistors. The ABsolute Line Preamplifier has three RCA line inputs and two XLR inputs. Two RCA outputs and two XLR outputs are available for controlling power amplifiers. There is no input for a turntable. There are no digital inputs either.

The frequency response ranges with the volume turned up all the way to 200 kHz at the top at -0.5 dB. The specified A-weighted S/N ratio is 102.3 dB. As we mentioned, the ABsolute Line Preamplifier weighs 22 kilograms, which is more than many power amplifiers on the market. The dimensions are 140 x 480 x 385 millimeters (H x W x D).
