The Statement Stereo features a switching power supply, but despite the absence of a heavy power transformer, the Statement Stereo weighs well over a hundred kilograms.
Constellation Audio Statement Stereo
The cabinet of Constellation Audio’s new Statement Stereo is a work of art in itself, even when the amplifier is powered off. Illuminated power meters on the front provide immediate visual confirmation of the amplifier’s performance, while a titanium top grille allows for quick, effective heat dissipation. The company’s vision, according to its designers, has always been to create a stereo amplifier that combines the best analog audio circuitry with newer technologies that could eliminate the quirks of traditional amplifiers. The Statement Stereo is that amplifier component that consistently delivers more than what was thought possible, according to Constellation Audio’s website .
The Statement Stereo represents an evolution, combining extraordinary modern engineering with the legendary musicality of traditionally designed amplifiers. Thanks to our new Constellation Switched-Mode Power Supply (C-SMPS) with Power Factor Correction (PFC), the Statement Stereo delivers all the performance our engineers designed into it, regardless of the speaker or the country’s power supply standard.
The Statement Stereo is capable of delivering 850 watts per channel into 8 ohms, 1,600 watts into 4 ohms, and 2,800 watts into an incredible 2 ohms. The channels can even be bridged, giving you 3,000 watts into 8 ohms or 5,500 watts into 4 ohms. Achieving these impressive results, the design team believed, was only possible because the C-SMPS and PFC would give the Statement Stereo’s 96 output transistors (48 per channel) a stable, quiet supply of DC power, regardless of where the amplifier was installed.
Getting the input stage of an amplifier right is absolutely crucial, as it affects everything that comes after it. That’s why the Statement Stereo features a fully balanced, mirrored input stage with parallel amplification modules for 5dB less noise, fed by a three-stage, fully regulated power supply that further reduces noise.
PFC delivers perfectly stable 380-volt power at any AC voltage standard, with voltage and current always in phase, regardless of the speaker load. The proprietary ultra-quiet C-SMPS technology reduces power supply noise by more than 20 dB. The power supply automatically optimizes itself for each speaker and AC power standard.
The Statement Stereo is a big amplifier. It measures 470 x 825 x 317 millimeters (W x D x H) and weighs 114 kilograms. Finding a suitable piece of audio furniture is a challenge. Constellation Audio gives a frequency range of 0.5 Hz to 100 kHz and that within a narrow margin of +0/0.1 dB. The S/N ratio is 110 dB and the damping factor at eight Ohms is greater than 200.
