The Cyrus i7-XR integrated amplifier is one of the first products to herald the new Cyrus XR series of components. The familiar Cyrus precision die-cast body remains the same, but everything else has changed.
The Cyrus i7-XR features a newly designed preamp section with relay selectors and shorter signal paths. The power supply uses Schottky diodes instead of traditional bridge rectifiers. According to the manufacturer, they are seven times more expensive, but power losses in this part of the circuit have decreased five times. In turn, this made it possible to increase the power of the amplifiers themselves: for speakers with a resistance of 6 Ohms, the Cyrus i7-XR model produces 2 x 52 W per channel and has a dynamic range of 101 dB, and the older Cyrus i9-XR will provide 2 x 91 W per channel with dynamic range 104 dB.

The Cyrus i7-XR received four analog inputs, and the MM phono stage input was not forgotten. Inheriting many of the design features of the award-winning Phono Signature, the i7-XR’s phono stage performs at a level far beyond its class. With low background noise and wide dynamic range, the phono stage is the ideal complement to a quality turntable. There are also five digital inputs on board: two coaxial, two optical and one USB. The proprietary QXR DAC in the XR series amplifiers was equipped with a new high-speed analog buffer stage. There are seven digital filter settings available. USB handles PCM up to 32-bit/768 kHz and DSD512.
The coaxial speaker cable connectors are complemented in the new products with an adjustable preamplifier output and an unregulated line output. In addition, on the rear panel there is a mini-USB port for software update and a 3.5 mm headphone output. The amplifier’s signature housing has received a new Phantom Black coating. The front panel is decorated with an all-metal rotary encoder. The user interface consists of a row of touch-sensitive buttons underneath a blue and white LCD screen, to the left of which is a power indicator button that glows green.
