Swiss audio manufacturer Goldmund has launched the Telos 4800, a mono power amplifier weighing in at a whopping 195 kilograms each. Goldmund claims to bring the power and performance of its flagship Telos 8800 into a slightly more compact but still very luxurious and powerful design.
Goldmund Telos 4800: Class AB mono power amplifier
Audio brand Goldmund has added a new member to its family of power amplifiers. The Telos 4800 mono power amplifier is designed as a smaller version of the flagship model Telos 8800 . The new Telos 4800 is not far behind the flagship model as the maximum output power is 1,050 Watts RMS into 8 Ohms. At the same time with this raw power comes an ultra-low THD of less than 0.005% over 20 Hz to 20 kHz. The dynamic range measures 117 dB with a bandwidth of 22 kHz and the Goldmund Telos 4800 Mono Power Amplifier has a damping factor of 600 at 1 kHz and a noise floor of less than 3 μV. The gain of the amplifier is adjustable in 3 dB steps, which allows for precise control and customization to suit individual preferences and audio settings.
The new Telos 4800 is equipped with a fair number of physical connections, including an analog RCA input, a balanced XLR input and digital RCA inputs, in addition to a digital RCA output, speaker terminals and one Goldmund 4B-type speaker connector.
The designers have equipped the Telos 4800 with Goldmund’s patented MKP silver-metallized polypropylene film cap capacitors. The power supply is designed to ensure a stable power supply for the Mosfet output stage. The Telos 4800 is designed with a fully analog circuit and guarantees maximum thermal and short-circuit protection. In the event of a problem, the amplifier switches off immediately, protecting both the speakers and the amplifier itself.
The new mono amplifier is designed to deliver an unparalleled listening experience and aims for crystal clear and detailed audio reproduction with significantly less background noise or interference thanks to the innovative, patented polypropylene capacitors and the extremely stable power supply.
Goldmund claims that the Telos 4800 can drive even extremely low-impedance speakers without compromising the level of distortion. The gain of the new mono power amplifier is adjustable in 3 dB steps, allowing users to make more precise adjustments to suit their given setups and preferences.
