TEAC AP-505 is a two-channel power amplifier belonging to the popular 505 series, which includes compact Hi-Fi components. The model is equipped with highly efficient Hypex NCore amplifier modules (class D), which have undergone special “tuning” in order to best meet the specified parameters. The power supply includes a powerful power toroidal transformer and a rectifier section based on ultra-fast Schottky diodes. Thanks to this equipment, it is possible to increase the efficiency of the amplifier, reduce heating, minimize distortion and ultimately obtain accurate, clear and dynamic sound.
In stereo mode, the TEAC AP-505 produces 70 W per channel at 8 ohms, and in bridged mono mode BTL (Bridge Tied Load) the output power reaches 200 W (8 ohms). Biamping mode (dual mono) is also available. As for the circuitry, a fully balanced topology is used here, and the amplification section provides reliable protection against overvoltage, overheating and current overloads. If there is no signal for a certain period of time, the terminal automatically goes into standby mode with minimal power consumption.
TEAC AP-505 is made in the spirit of audio equipment of the 70-80s with neat dial indicators of the output signal level, which received a “warm” yellow backlight with 4-step dimming. The small aluminum case is traditionally equipped with stylized proprietary rack ears and patented anti-vibration supports (3-position Pin-Point foot system). According to audiophile traditions, and also due to low heat generation, the model uses only passive cooling.
The rear panel of the amplifier contains two XLR balanced input jacks, as well as a pair of standard unbalanced RCA input jacks. To connect speaker systems, large screw terminals with gold-plated contact surfaces are used. The amplifier is available in silver or black color scheme.
