The Leema Elements Power Amplifier has an incredibly versatile design. A set of switches on the rear panel of the unit, along with an internal analog volume control, allows you to configure the amplifier to perform a wide range of tasks. The unit can be used as a reference level stereo amplifier with pre-amplification, etc., or switched to monoblock mode and used multiple Elements power amplifiers as part of a stereo or multi-channel system.
The Leema Elements Power Amplifier combines a compact design with all the features of a Hydro II power amplifier from the Constellation series, including easy Stereo/Mono switching and full LIPS control capabilities for a variety of applications. This amplifier can be added to an integrated circuit for use in bi- and tri-amping circuits, but can also be used with an Elements DAC preamplifier, or with a Pyxis reference preamplifier, becoming the basis for a top-of-the-line Pre/Power system.
The Leema Elements Power Amplifier sports a rare display on the front panel for components of this type. It also differs in design from most of them: when switched to bridge mode, its output power increases fourfold; it also has its own switchable volume control, accessible through the proprietary LIPS control system.
On the back panel of the Leema Elements Power Amp (first photo) there are much more controls than on the front. Using toggle switches and recessed buttons, the device is configured for a number of options for its use: it is switched to bridge mode, it has its own volume control, accessible through the LIPS (Leema Intelligent Protocol System) control system, and the input is selected – XLR or RCA.
In monoblock mode, the device’s output power increases significantly, which provides incredible dynamics and pressure in the very modest dimensions of a half-width device.
The Elements power amplifier, like the Elements integrated amplifier from which it was developed, subjectively has more power than indicated in the technical specifications. Indeed, in monoblock mode, the dynamics give a feeling of limitless power when subjectively assessing systems by ear.
The amplifier circuitry is very load-tolerant and is capable of driving a load up to 2 ohms in stereo mode and, even more difficult, up to 4 ohms in a bridged connection. The use of fully functional protection systems guarantees long-term reliability.
