In addition to the subtle changes made to the front panel of its legendary DAC, Denafrips brings us an evolution of the Terminator, not only through design improvements such as a redesign of the OCXO clock power circuit, but also through the extreme care taken in selecting every component. Indeed, the various elements that make up Terminator PLUS, from the OCXO clock to the R2R ladder networks, have been hand-selected to ensure a level of craftsmanship unmatched to date. These improvements have resulted in lower total harmonic distortion, providing accurate signal reproduction without compromise.
Denafrips Terminator PLUS 12Th also boasts extensive connectivity options, allowing it to be easily integrated into the vast majority of audio systems. Inputs include USB-B, I2S RJ45 LVCMOS, I2S RJ45 LVDS, I2S HDMI LVDS, AES/EBU, optical and Toslink coaxial. Outputs include unbalanced stereo RCA and balanced stereo XLR. Two clock outputs allow Terminator PLUS and other audio devices to be perfectly synchronized for optimal system performance.
The Denafrips Terminator PLUS 12Th has its own linear power stage, located under the DAC board and separated from it by a steel partition to avoid interference. The power supply itself uses two large O-Core toroidal transformers for the digital and analogue sections, as well as low ESR capacitors to supply electrical signal to all audio circuitry.
The Denafrips Terminator PLUS digital/analog conversion module and its R2R ladder networks are perfectly isolated. The two boards are physically connected to each other by an OCXO synchronization module. Physical isolation reduces background noise and improves signal-to-noise ratio.
Terminator PLUS is equipped with two OCXO clocks operating at 45.1584 MHz and 49.152 MHz. Housed in a metal housing located at the center of the DAC, these OCXOs are specifically designed for high-end audio applications with ultra-low phase noise and very high accuracy. Both OCXOs are powered by a completely redesigned power circuit that provides constant current to the clock. Sufficient power reserve guarantees linearity and stability of the clock signal.
Jitter is also reduced by resynchronizing the FIFO buffer. The adaptive FIFO buffer stores digital audio data. They are read directly by an ultra-low phase noise OCXO located directly in the DAC.
Terminator PLUS also features an OCXO clock output for perfect synchronization of multiple audio devices.
