Meze Audio unveiled their latest 105 AER headphones, which are their most budget-friendly open-back headphones yet. With its ‘open back’ design, the 105 AER offers a dynamic and immersive listening experience that truly connects the listener to the music.
They come with 50 mm diameter double diaphragm dynamic drivers, just like the 109 PRO. However, there are a few minor differences to note. Firstly, the housing is made of PEEK polymer without a beryllium coating. Secondly, the canopy is made of the same carbon fiber reinforced cellulose composite as the 109 PRO. Thirdly, the driver frame is made from ABS instead of aluminum, which is used in the 109 PRO. Lastly, the headphones are the same size as the 109 PRO and are made of ABS.
Similar to the109 PRO, the 105 AER boasts a double V-shaped headband and generously cushioned ear pads for maximum comfort.
The new headphones are designed to be easily driven by portable sources as well as headphone amplifiers. They are open type headphones, providing a large soundstage and excellent spatial description. In other words, they have a similar sound profile to the 109 PRO, but with slightly looser high frequencies and more bass.
The impedance of these headphones is 42Ω, with a frequency response ranging from 10Hz to 25KHz. They have a sensitivity of 112 dB SPL (1KHz/1 mW) and weigh 336 g.
