The Atoll MD100 is part of the company’s MINI LINE series of small-sized audio components and is equipped with a reliable, high-precision CD transport developed by TEAC, which can play regular CDs, as well as CD-R/CD-RW and MP3 files recorded on them .
Atoll MD100 received a neat compact body (MIDI format) with four anti-vibration feet, a steel chassis one and a half millimeters thick and a four-millimeter front panel made of anodized aluminum.
The front panel has rounded corners and protrudes slightly beyond the chassis. All control buttons are located on the right side of the facade, and right under the drive tray there is an informative display with fairly large green symbols that can be seen even from a great distance. The disc transport is located in the central part of the body, perfectly balanced and isolated.
The Atoll MD100 circuits are equipped with high-quality audiophile components, and the digital-to-analog conversion is handled by the TI Burr-Brown PCM5102 chip. Among the features of the model can also be called an output stage with direct current feedback.
At the same time, coupling capacitors are not used in the signal circuits, which have a negative impact on the sound quality. The result is accurate, transparent and natural sound with minimal distortion. The CD player also uses a linear power supply with a high-quality transformer, which guarantees high-quality power. The model has a fairly high signal-to-noise ratio and a low harmonic distortion coefficient.
The rear of the Atoll MD100 has a built-in linear output on RCA connectors and a pair of digital S/PDIF outputs (optical and coaxial), which allow you to connect to an external DAC. The kit includes a universal remote control capable of controlling other Atoll components. The device has a high build quality and is produced at Atoll’s own factory in France. The model is available in silver or black.
