Denon DCD-50: Easy to use compact CD player

Denon released the DCD-50 compact digital CD player from its Desing Series. The product is an addition to the PMA-30, PMA-50 and PMA-60 digital amplifiers. The DCD-50 model plays CD/CD-R/CD-RW discs and supports MP3 and WMA formats.

The DCD-50 digital-to-analog converter uses AL32 signal processing algorithms and ultra-precise digital-to-analog conversion technologies (32 bit/192 kHz). There is an RCA output and a digital coaxial output. On the front of the player there is a small OLED display with automatic rotation (possibility of vertical and horizontal placement).

Denon DCD-50 was designed in such a way that it is completely compatible with the amplifier of this series (PMA-50) not only in sound, but also in appearance. The device successfully combines black lacquer and silver metal, and the DCD-50 will fit perfectly into any interior. The laconic front panel houses a minimal set of controls and an OLED display.

This model is equipped with a transport mechanism with slot loading of the disk, which can work in both horizontal and vertical positions. In the latter case, the four supports from the bottom of the case can be moved to the side panel, and the indication on the display will automatically take the correct position.

The Denon DCD-50 CD player has a coaxial digital output, which Denon recommends using when connecting the DCD-50 to an amplifier. In all other cases, you can use the standard analog stereo output. The device is equipped with a high-quality digital-to-analog converter with parameters of 32 bits / 192 kHz, complemented by a proprietary AL32 sound processor.

The Denon DCD-50 can play CD-Audio discs, as well as CD-R/RW discs, including MP3/WMA files. The player is capable of reading meta-information recorded on discs and displaying the name of the disc and the playing composition, as well as the name of the artist. It is possible to play songs in random order or “in a circle”, and if desired, the display can be turned off. The player itself also automatically turns off if the user does not start playing music within 30 minutes.

The CD player is equipped with a remote control, which can also be used to transmit commands to the PMA series amplifier.

The device is very easy to use, its mechanics work quietly and quickly, and the indications on the display are clearly visible from a long distance. Thanks to its thoughtful design and quality components, the Denon DCD-50 provides highly accurate sound, extracting the maximum musical information from CDs.
