The Denon DRA-800H stereo receiver combines both analog and digital technologies, making it the versatile centerpiece of a modern stereo system. The device is made in Denon’s signature style with a thick aluminum front panel, on which all the necessary controls are very conveniently located. The Denon DRA-800H features superior, premium build quality and will look great as part of any AV system. The chassis of the device has a patented vibration decoupling with a 1.6 mm thick steel base plate to protect electronic circuits from mechanical influences.
The Denon DRA-800H two-channel receiver features a massive high-current power transformer, audio-specific capacitors, a phase-shift-free amplifier circuit that provides wide frequency range, low distortion and a well-focused soundstage, and a discrete transistor output stage. Denon DRA-800H is equipped with proprietary push-pull amplifiers, made according to the AHC circuit, operating in an extended frequency range. The device develops a power of 145 W per channel at a 6 ohm load and is capable of fully pumping even complex acoustics. To customize the sound character, the Denon DRA-800H stereo receiver has tone controls for low and high frequencies, as well as stereo balance. If desired, all additional signal processing circuits in the receiver can be disabled by using the Source Direct mode.
The Denon DRA-800H stereo receiver features an excellent built-in MM/MC phono stage that rivals many standalone units. The digital section in the Denon DRA-800H is represented by two optical and one coaxial inputs, which are capable of receiving a PCM signal with parameters up to 24 bit / 192 kHz, five HDMI inputs and one HDMI output (with support for a return channel, which is convenient when working in conjunction from TV). All ports are version 2.0a and support HDCP 2.3, 4K video (60 Hz), 3D, HDR, Dolby Vision, DSD file transfer and other functions. The model has a USB port for external storage devices and two connectors for subwoofers. Four pairs of screw terminals are used to connect the speakers. However, the entire digital part of the Denon DRA-800H can be turned off if desired to eliminate its influence when listening through the analog inputs.
The Denon DRA-800H supports dual-band Wi-Fi for a more reliable connection, AirPlay and Bluetooth. With a wired connection via a LAN port over a local network, playback of Hi-Res formats stored on computers and servers on this network is available, such as PCM up to 24 bit/192 kHz and DSD up to 5.6 MHz (in PCM conversion mode). There is a built-in FM tuner with RDS, digital radio, web radio and various Internet services are supported, including Spotify Connect, TIDAL, TuneIn and Deezer.
The HEOS ecosystem supported by the Denon DRA-800H allows you to wirelessly stream Hi-Res audio to any room in your home. At the same time, using the application, access to all audio content of the local network is guaranteed, as well as to streaming services Spotify, Deezer, SoundCloud, Amazon Music, Tidal, TuneIn, etc. Moreover, all this can be played on all available HEOS devices . For example, you can play the same track in all rooms, or “scatter” different music across different rooms. To control the Denon DRA-800H, not only the remote control is used, but also voice commands transmitted using the Amazon Alexa personal assistant. Activation of this feature requires an additional Amazon Echo device and installation of the HEOS Home Entertainment Skill app.
