The Hegel P20 is an entry-level preamplifier that allows you to join the reference line. The design of the Hegel P20 can be called the perfect combination of minimalism and elegance. The slightly convex front panel, made of anodized aluminum, has undergone a special shot blasting treatment. The sides are also made of aluminum. In the center of the facade there is a large power button, above which there is a blue LED. On the right is a laconic knob for a high-precision volume control, and on the left is an input selector with LED indication. The body rests on the surface with three legs.
The design of the Hegel P20 incorporates ideas and concepts that were successfully tested in its older brother, the P30. Thanks to this, the Hegel P20 provides an open, neutral sound with the widest stage, precise image placement and deep, rhythmic bass. The preamplifier is perhaps the most delicate component in an audio system. Signal levels here are so low that even minimal noise and distortion can have a negative impact on the transmitted musical image and mask the fine details that bring the music to life. All this was taken into account when designing the P20. Engineers used new proprietary technologies and high-quality components, such as silicon-germanium transistors. The result is clear, open, dynamic and natural sound at a very competitive price.
The Hegel P20 model has a harmonic distortion coefficient that does not exceed 0.005% and is characterized by low output impedance, which allows it to be used with virtually any interconnect cables and power amplifiers. The kit includes a sleek RC8 remote control with an aluminum housing, which can also control other Hegel components.
Inputs: balanced XLR, 4 linear RCA and one unregulated Home Theater, which is convenient to use when operating a preamplifier as part of a cinema system, since it provides direct access to the end connected to the P20. Outputs include balanced and unbalanced connectors, as well as fixed RCA for recording.
The Hegel P20 preamplifier will allow you to create neutral Hi-Fi sound and become a strong link in a serious stereo system. Ideal partners for this model are branded terminals H20 and H4SE. However, the P20 can also be combined with other power amplifiers that match its class.
