The McIntosh MB100 features the signature McIntosh design and features only a two-line fluorescent display on the front panel. All player control is done using portable devices based on iOS or Android through a special application. The name of the McIntosh MB100 device stands for Media Bridge, and it is designed to provide the music lover with a “bridge” to digital content in all its diversity.
The McIntosh MB100 has a built-in 1TB hard drive, which is enough to store a fairly extensive music collection. If this is not enough, then the user has four USB connectors and one eSATA port for connecting external drives. Of course, the device has extensive network functionality – it automatically detects the presence of available content on network devices, after which the desired composition can be launched with one click of a button. McIntosh MB100 provides access to popular online services Pandora, Spotify, TuneIn and others, and also allows you to listen to Internet radio. The device plays files of all popular formats, including High-Res Lossless with parameters up to 24 bit / 192 kHz.
The McIntosh MB100 player is based on a motherboard from Autonomic, one of the leading manufacturers of professional media systems. The 8-channel 32-bit digital-to-analog converter in the McIntosh MB100 is the same as that installed in the company’s D100 preamplifier. Moreover, its circuit is completely isolated from the computing part to eliminate possible interference. The player’s operating system is stored on a high-speed HDD. Thoughtful organization of the software guarantees an instant response to user commands and stable sound quality when playing music from any source.
The McIntosh MB100 player is equipped with balanced and unbalanced analog outputs, optical and coaxial digital outputs. Also on the rear panel of the McIntosh MB100 there are HDMI and DVI-D outputs designed to output only on-screen graphics. The device is powered from an external DC source.
