The well-known manufacturer with blue indicators has just introduced the McIntosh MHT300 home theater receiver . This 7.2 or 5.2.2 channel Dolby Atmos and DTS:X model is an exception with a phenomenal 7 x 120 watts per channel into 8 ohms. It supports the latest UHD 4K 120fps and 8K 60fps standards, as well as a host of proprietary technologies to provide the ultimate experience for moviegoers, audiophiles and gamers alike.
A Brief History of McIntosh
For over 70 years, McIntosh has been synonymous with excellence in the world of hi-fi. The manufacturer, known for its sound quality and outstanding design, has also established itself well in the field of home theaters. Already in the 90s, McIntosh gained an enviable reputation among the most demanding moviegoers.
Until now, the manufacturer has focused on systems consisting of a home theater processor such as the McIntosh MX123 and McIntosh MX180 , as well as multi-channel power amplifiers such as the McIntosh MI254, McIntosh MI347, McIntosh MC257 or McIntosh MC303. With the release of the new McIntosh MHT300 AV home theater receiver, the manufacturer aims to offer high-quality cinema in one device.
High power 120W
McIntosh MHT300 has 7.2 channels of amplification, convertible to 5.2.2 channels for Dolby Atmos and DTS:X tracks. For the most complete installations, it has pre-outs that can be used in combination with a power amplifier to create a 7, 2, 4 channel system.
McIntosh’s reputation has always been built on electronics of outstanding quality and enormous power. The McIntosh MHT300 home theater amplifier is no exception, delivering a phenomenal 120 watts into 8 ohms and 150 watts into 4 ohms. While these numbers may seem modest compared to the competition, it’s important to note that most amplifiers deliver their rated power in stereo or when driving only one channel. The McIntosh MHT300 is capable of delivering this much power across all of its channels, for a total of over 1050 watts into 4 ohms. This means it can easily power the most demanding cinema speakers.
4K and 8K UHD
The McIntosh MHT300 video section consists of four HDMI inputs and one output. All are compatible with 8K UHD at 60 fps and 4K UHD at up to 120 Hz. For enhanced dynamic range, the McIntosh MHT300 is compatible with HDR10+, Dolby Vision and HLG. While the McIntosh MHT300’s inputs and outputs are HDMI 2.1 compliant, it’s important to note that they do not support all of the features associated with this standard, including QMS, VRR and ALLM gaming technologies.
McIntosh MHT300: Unique Design, No Arrows
The McIntosh MHT300 home theater amplifier is built in an anodized aluminum cabinet, the design of which is a subtle combination of the McIntosh MEN220 equalizer and the McIntosh C49 CD player. There are two large knobs on the front panel for selecting source and adjusting volume. In the center there are no usual dial indicators, they are replaced by a backlit display showing the source, video resolution or audio track of the program being watched. It also comes with a remote control.
