Onkyo C-7000R

The Onkyo C-7000R reference-grade CD player packs all the features and latest technology to get the most out of your audio CDs and CD-R/RWs, and even the MP3 or WMA encoded discs you may be using. , recorded on my computer. All the components of the classic design are in place here – a thick aluminum front panel, a silver body color, a neat and ascetic-looking display under the loading tray. Comes with a nifty remote control. Structurally, the device also represents the embodiment of ideas about an ideal CD player. Precision transport with an aluminum loading tray, its own thermally stabilized clock generator, completely separate power supply for analog and digital circuits from separate transformers, and much more. Particular attention is paid to the fight against intermodulation distortion, to eliminate which Onkyo has developed its own proprietary DIDRC (Dynamic Intermodulation Distortion Reduction Circuitry).

All necessary measures have also been taken to combat vibrations – three separate anti-vibration panels are installed in the case, and the printed circuit boards are optimized accordingly. The digital-to-analog converter is built on Burr-Brown chips from Texas Instruments, each channel uses a separate PCM1792 that supports a digital signal with parameters of 24 bits/192 kHz. True, this talent will not be in demand in this case, because the Onkyo C-7000R is designed to play CDs of the Red Book standard, as well as compressed MP3 and WMA files recorded on discs. Uses a thermally controlled, high-precision clock generator and PLL (Phase Locked Loop) technology to reduce jitter. Analogue and digital circuits are completely separated and are even powered by separate transformers – W-shaped (for “digital”) and toroidal. Printed circuit boards are mounted in the housing in such a way as to avoid vibrations transmitted from the chassis.

On the rear panel there is a stereo analog output on RCA, as well as three digital outputs in all major formats – optical, coaxial and professional on AES/EBU, allowing maximum flexibility in using the player as a transport. To minimize the impact of interference on the desired signal, the Onkyo C-7000R uses a temperature-stabilized precision clock generator, an ultra-low jitter PLL, and a new PCB design. All of these sensitive components are housed in an anti-vibration chassis, with separate anti-vibration aluminum panels on the top, front and sides.

The solidity of the device is evidenced by its weight of 12 kg. In the center of the neat front panel is a narrow cast aluminum tray for a low-noise drive. Below is a display with fairly large and clear characters. It is possible to change its brightness and turn it off completely. On the left side of the facade there are buttons for power supply and switching to standby mode. On the right is a button for opening the tray, keys that control playback, and a large Output Mode button, thanks to which an operating mode using only analog outputs or only digital outputs, or both modes at once, becomes available.

The player is equipped with the following outputs – coaxial, optical, balanced AES/EBU manufactured by Amphenol and linear RCA. All discs are played, including CD-R/RW, as well as WMA and MP3 files. The reading speed is quite high. Loading the disc occurs smoothly and silently. The drive is very quiet. To control the player, use the stylish RC-796C remote control.

The Onkyo C-7000R model has a light and precisely calibrated sound, which is characterized by absolute purity, naturalness, good but not dominant detail, correct tonal balance and well-developed bass. Onkyo’s built panorama covers a large area, providing the proper volume and scale.
