The Onkyo TX-L20D is a two-channel receiver with streamer functions, made in a strict slim design, comparable to the form factor of some Blu-ray players. The model supports wireless audio transmission using the Google Cast service (available with new software), AirPlay function, Bluetooth module and Wi-Fi connection.
There is built-in support for online streaming services TIDAL, Deezer, Spotify and TuneIn. The stereo receiver easily connects to a local network using a LAN interface or via WLAN, and playback of Hi-Res formats, including DSD up to 5.6 MHz, becomes available. FireConnect technology is supported, which makes it possible to send any audio signal wirelessly to speakers that support this function, which is very convenient for multi-room installations.
You can control the receiver via the Onkyo Controller app from iOS or Android devices. To listen to the radio there is an FM receiver and a DAB/DAB+ digital tuner. The device is equipped with an amplifier with a power of 85 W per channel (4 Ohms) and uses Phase Matching Bass technology for phase-matched bass reproduction. There is a 32-bit CIRRUS signal processor on board the receiver. There are separate DSP modes for movies, games and music. Pure Audio mode is supported for high-quality audio playback.
The Onkyo TX-L20D model is equipped with four latest-generation HDMI inputs that work with 4K resolution, are “friendly” with the 4K content protection protocol HDCP 2.2, support 4:4:4 color space, HDR and the CEC control protocol. The output has a similar port with an audio return channel function. The receiver can upscale 1080p video to 4K. HDMI also supports SACD playback (up to 5.6 MHz). There are two RCA line inputs, MM phono connectors and digital inputs (coaxial and optical). There is a subwoofer output and a pair of screw terminals for speakers.
The central part of the front panel is occupied by a single-line FL display. The volume knob and two buttons for searching/tuning radio programs are on the right side of the panel. On the left there is a power/standby key, a USB port for external drives (supports Hi-Res formats, including DSD 5.6 MHz), a mini-jack for headphones and source selector buttons. The receiver is equipped with a remote control and is a convenient modern device for listening to movie soundtracks and high-quality audio playback using wired or wireless signal transmission.
