Roon Labs has recently unveiled the latest addition to their Nucleus line of music servers, the Roon Nucleus One. This turnkey device is specifically crafted for Roon library management and music discovery, all at an appealing price point. The Nucleus server series was originally developed to provide the ultimate server/streamer solution for the Roon ecosystem. With the introduction of Nucleus One, it now stands alongside the top-of-the-line Nucleus Titan, replacing the previous Nucleus servers. This new product boasts a contemporary hardware platform, effortless setup, dependable performance, and a visually pleasing design.
The Nucleus One model offers similar performance levels as its predecessor, the Nucleus. It is a cost-effective dedicated Roon server enclosed in an elegant polycarbonate chassis that mirrors the premium design of the Nucleus Titan. This new device provides versatile connectivity choices, such as two USB-A ports and an HDMI port specifically for audio. Additionally, it has room inside for a 2.5-inch SATA drive with a maximum capacity of 8 TB. The processor is kept cool by a quiet fan.
Enno Vandermeer, the founder of Roon, emphasized the immense potential that arises when a single team is capable of developing hardware, operating systems, and application software. This unique combination allows for the creation of reliable and feature-rich products that offer an exceptional user experience. Over the years, we have been fortunate enough to undertake this endeavor multiple times, starting with the Sooloos system nearly two decades ago. Despite its high price point, we were driven by the desire to develop a product that we could confidently recommend to our loved ones. Nucleus One represents the culmination of our extensive experience thus far, serving as a dedicated Roon server available at the price of a standard mini PC.
