TEAC Reference 301 is the newest TEAC series. It has smaller dimensions compared to the 501 series. The universal device Teac PD-301-X was released to complement the 301-X series of compact Hi-Fi components from TEAC. Model TEAC PD-301-X is a compact CD player with a built-in FM tuner. The player is equipped with a USB port for flash drives that supports specification 3.0 with increased data transfer rates.
The solid aluminum body of the TEAC PD-301-X player has an attractive teak design and excellent anti-vibration properties, and its width is only 215 mm, i.e. half the width of a standard hi-fi component. Thanks to such small dimensions, the model can even be installed on a table or bookshelf. At the top of the front panel there is a narrow slot for loading a CD. Playback starts automatically as soon as the CD is inserted into the slot. Regular compacts are supported, as well as CD-ROM/R/RW. Playback of compressed MP3 and WMA formats from CD-R is available. In the center of the facade there is a very informative 2-line display with adjustable brightness, which can display the name of the song and artist for MP3, WMA and AAC formats with support for ID3 tags.
On the right side of the panel there are 4 buttons for controlling playback, as well as disc ejection and source selector buttons. On the left there is a power/standby key with circular backlight and a USB port for flash drives (playing files in WAV, AAC, MP3 and WMA formats is available). HDD hard drives are not supported. For digital-to-analog conversion, the Burr-Brown PCM5142 chip from Texas Instruments is used, thanks to which it is possible to obtain a rich and well-balanced sound. The built-in FM tuner allows you to memorize 20 presets for 20 radio stations.
On the rear panel of the TEAC PD-301-X, in addition to the usual linear RCA output, there are two digital output connectors (coaxial and optical), thanks to which you can send a digital signal to an external DAC to improve sound quality. However, it should be taken into account that only a signal with a resolution of up to 16 bits/44.1 kHz can be output. The model is equipped with a small, convenient remote control.
