Few companies in the world of Hi-Fi Audio can boast such a rich history as Marantz. In 2018, the company celebrated its 65th anniversary. In order to understand how this brand managed to gain and maintain such a unique position in the market – the adoration of connoisseurs – audiophiles and the recognition of ordinary people “on the street” for high quality – it is necessary to trace the history of the company right back to its very origins – to the era of the birth of the music industry sound recording as we know it today.
The Marantz MM7055 five-channel power amplifier is designed for use in high-end home theater systems. This device is built on the basis of the same circuit design and technological solutions as the top model of the series, MM8003, and develops 140 W on each channel when operating on 8-ohm speaker systems. The amplifier uses current feedback, which significantly improves the stability of the circuit and expands the range of reproduced frequencies without degrading other sound parameters. The same circuit is used in the audiophile-grade Marantz SM-11S1 amplifier. The power supply of the device contains a powerful custom-made network transformer, as well as high-capacity filter capacitors (2 x 33000 uF). The transformer is placed in the screen to eliminate electromagnetic interference on the audio circuit of the amplifier.
The Marantz MM7055 circuits use selected audiophile-grade components that have passed strict incoming quality control at the company’s factory. The output transistors are mounted on massive milled aluminum heat sinks, guaranteeing reliable operation of the device under high load even without the use of forced ventilation. The amplifier’s high output current ensures compatibility with the most sophisticated speaker systems, and the Marantz MM7055’s ability to seamlessly deliver the widest dynamic range of today’s High Definition movie soundtracks. Special buffer stages are installed at the inputs of each channel, improving the matching of the amplifier with any preamplifiers and AV processors, as well as connecting cables.
The Marantz MM7055 amplifier is equipped with balanced and unbalanced inputs, connectors for an external remote control system, an input for an external IR sensor, and a 12-volt trigger input/output.
In the round window on the front panel of the amplifier there are indicators for switching on, as well as the activation of the protection system. It is characterized by high performance and prevents failure of the amplifier and the acoustics connected to it in the event of any emergency situations.
