Time to dust off the portable Bluetooth speakers for outdoor activities. Or maybe look for a new one. Bose has announced the SoundLink Max and it is a waterproof device that should be able to withstand a blow. The SoundLink Max comes in a fresh blue (Blue Dusk) and a black color.
Bose SoundLink Max
The SoundLink Max from American Bose has a silicone-wrapped steel housing with a powder coating in black or Blue Dusk. According to the manufacturer, it can take a beating. The paint does not flake and is resistant to corrosion and UV light. The SoundLink Max meets the IP67 standard for water and dust resistance. Use at a swimming pool, on a boat, on the beach or in the park should therefore not be a problem.
Sound comes from the proprietary Bose Articulated Array with three drivers located on the front of the speaker to deliver a spatial stereo experience that extends beyond the speaker itself. The bass reproduction is helped by passive radiators.
The SoundLink Max is equipped with Bluetooth 5.3 with support for codecs SBC and AAC. For high-resolution audio, Snapdragon Sound with the latest Qualcomm aptX Adaptive codec automatically adjusts to lossless quality. Snapdragon Sound technology provides easy wireless connectivity to premium Android devices. Google Fast Pair is also supported for Android devices.
The user can also use a cable because the SoundLink Max has a 3.5 millimeter jack plug input. You cannot answer telephone calls because the SoundLink Max does not have a microphone on board.
The SoundLink Max offers a battery life of up to 20 hours. A full charge takes approximately five hours. There’s also a USB-C port for charging compatible mobile devices.
