BUCHARDT has unveiled a limited edition of its active floor-standing speakers, the A700 Limited Edition (LE), which has raised eyebrows among some European reviewers. This move comes despite strong demand for the “regular” version, which sold out some time ago. Instead of increasing production to meet demand, Buchardt has opted to release a new version, potentially exacerbating scarcity due to its limited production run. However, the actual production volume has not been disclosed, so the limit may be more symbolic than practical.
The A700 LE maintains the design and dimensions of the standard version but features a different tweeter, the proprietary RFA19 tweeter (first introduced in the Anniversary 10 model), which the manufacturer claims offers enhanced resolution in its range. Additionally, the system settings have been adjusted, reflected in their software, including slight modifications to the polar pattern for the rear bass drivers.
Arguably, the most notable change is that the A700 LE speakers are manufactured in Denmark rather than Asia. The pre-order price is €6,100 per pair, or €6,400 per pair with the Platin hub included. Once regular deliveries commence, the price will rise to €6,300 and €7,000, respectively. Standard design options include white or black, with a €200 surcharge for walnut veneer finishing.
