Cabasse Rialto: Compact active speakers with Hi-Fi mode

Cabasse Rialto
Cabasse Rialto

Cabasse Rialto is positioned as a model that can be used in Hi-Fi mode, to amplify the sound of a TV, and as computer speakers. The name that Cabasse gave to the new product (Rialto – the bridge in Venice, the main and oldest crossing over the Grand Canal to Piazza San Marco) “symbolizes the historical connection between traditional hi-fi and modern connectivity,” and the new Rialto really does very wide: Ethernet, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, Optical SPDIF, Analog RCA, USB, TV jack. The manufacturer claims that, despite its very modest dimensions, Rialto have great potential and are capable of producing powerful, dynamic, high-resolution sound with excellent vocal reproduction and uniform filling of space.

The French champions of getting closer to point sound sources have not forgotten their credo this time either: a 13-cm two-way coaxial is placed on the front panel of the Cabasse Rialto. The built-in amplifiers deliver an impressive 2×300 W maximum to the midrange and tweeter. And the 450 W that the 17 cm rear HELD (High Excursion Low Distortion) bass driver can receive is quite proportionate. Six amplifiers in two speakers are controlled by a DSP using the proprietary DEAP algorithm (which stands for Digital Enhancement of Acoustical Performance). The result is a low-frequency limit of 30 Hz for acoustics measuring 26 x 20.6 x 23.9 cm. In addition, automatic calibration is available in Rialto.

The right and left channels of the Cabasse Rialto are not entirely identical: on the upper plane of the right speaker there is a volume control ring surrounded by a touch display, which, in addition to the controls, displays the cover of the album being played. You can also use the Cabasse StreamCONTROL application with all functions and settings for control. These include access to Spotify Connect, Tidal Connect, Qobuz and Deezer plus Apple AirPlay. Bluetooth is not forgotten either.

Another invention of Cabasse engineers, DEAP technology (literally “digital acoustic enhancement”) is the key to effective interaction between the speakers and the amplifier section: dynamic multi-band signal processing with feedback loops allows you to use all the available power of the amplifier for distortion-free playback. Personalized sound settings are available through the Cabasse Stream Control app. The master speaker has a touch control screen with which you can change the playback volume, select signal sources, add radio stations, etc. The color LCD display shows the artwork of the albums being played. Rialto speaker cabinet finishes: white or black; grills are metal, with magnets.

The connectors include an Ethernet port, TOSLINK (used for communication between speakers along with a wireless connection) and even a pair of analog RCA. The built-in DAC processes signals with a resolution of up to 768 kHz/32 bits, and can be combined with related branded Rialto products into Hi-Res multiroom. The icing on the cake is HDMI eARC, which will allow the Cabasse Rialto to compete with the soundbar. The color of the speakers can be chosen from two options – black or white.
