These are real high-class speakers, made in a fashionable and stylish case, all the elements of which were calculated based on both the attractive appearance and accurate sound. Do you think that for a serious audiophile, any more conventional-looking speakers will give these cheeky DALI beauties a run for their money? Not necessarily. Although the Fazon F5 are not perfect, they create an exceptionally pleasant sound, in many ways superior to the sound of more traditional competitors.
The DALI Fazon F5 speaker system’s body is made of aluminum, has no parallel surfaces for effective resonance suppression, and provides reliable speaker mounting. The narrow front panel eliminates dispersion of sound waves at its edges, due to which the speakers literally dissolve in the sound stage, practically not revealing themselves in the listening room.
The tweeter is equipped with a lightweight fabric dome with a diameter of 28 mm and a powerful magnetic system to ensure high sound detail. Internal reflections of sound waves are minimized by deep damping of the body, and to reduce the damping coefficient, it is made ventilated. Two bass speakers have rigid and lightweight diffusers made of paper-fabric mass with a diameter of 127 mm, flexible rubber suspensions, and a massive magnetic system. The large amplitude of the diffuser movement ensures the reproduction of powerful and detailed bass that evenly fills the listening room.
The front panel of the speaker has a sandwich-type design with an anti-vibration polymer gasket. This solution allows achieving the necessary acoustic inertia of the design and eliminating parasitic coloration of the sound even at high listening volumes. In addition, in this case, good mechanical isolation of the speakers from each other is ensured, and vibrations from the woofer do not affect the quality of the high-frequency emitter. The speaker grille is acoustically almost transparent and has a magnetic mount, so when it is removed, no “extra” elements remain on the front panel. The aluminum support, which is part of the speaker design, provides reliable fixation of the DALI Fazon F5 and has an internal channel for hidden installation of the speaker cable.
