The top shelf speaker system in the series, DALI Opticon 2 Mk2 combines relatively small dimensions and powerful, rich sound. The speakers have a classic two-way configuration and are made on the basis of branded emitters. The DALI Opticon 2 cases, like the rest of the speakers in the series, are assembled by hand at the company’s plant, which ensures high quality finishing, as well as precise adherence to technology. The speakers have three options for finishing with high-quality vinyl film, which is combined with a lacquer coating of the front panel in black or white piano lacquer.
The Opticon 2 Mk2 speakers have a 6.5-inch bass speaker, the diffuser of which is made of a mixture of wood fibers and paper – an excellent material that provides the diaphragm with high rigidity with low weight. DALI traditionally uses speakers with such diffusers in its high-end acoustics, in particular, the flagship speakers of the Epicon series. Another patented technical solution used in these speakers is the Soft Magnetic Compound (SMC) magnetic system, which has increased linearity and provides a minimum level of distortion. The low-frequency speaker is loaded onto a phase inverter, the output of which is located on the rear panel.
The woofer is paired with a dome tweeter, specially designed for use in the Opticon series of speakers. Its diaphragm has a diameter of 28 mm, is made of fabric, it is very light and effectively resists parasitic resonances. Despite the fact that the Opticon 2 Mk2 does not use an additional ribbon tweeter, thanks to the optimized design of the dome tweeter, the operating range of the speaker system was expanded to 27 kHz (at a level of -3 dB). The speakers are connected to a crossover filter made of high-quality components, and a pair of reliable screw terminals are intended for connection to the amplifier. The
DALI Opticon 2 Mk2 speakers noticeably benefit in sound quality if they are placed on specialized stands with good damping characteristics. In terms of sound, the acoustics are quite universal and can be used both in stereo systems and in home theaters.
