Fostex has introduced a new line of near-field monitors known as the NF06, which will be priced at $2,000 in Japan. The engineering team has incorporated a 6.5-inch woofer featuring a proprietary HR diaphragm, designed in a manner that resembles fan blades. This bass driver is noted for its minimal internal stress and resonance, along with a high degree of rigidity while maintaining a relatively lightweight profile. The dome is constructed from a composite of wood fibers and other materials, including carbon.
The suspension of the diffuser is designed in a tangential UDR shape. Additionally, the monitor’s magnetic system includes copper tips and is specially engineered to ensure a consistent magnetic field throughout the entire frequency spectrum. The one-inch dome tweeter is crafted from titanium, while the cabinet is made of MDF. The wall thickness of the cabinet, where the woofer is mounted, was determined through extensive experimental testing.
This monitor operates within a frequency range of 40 to 35,000 Hz, featuring an impedance of 8 Ohms and a sound pressure level of 84.5 dB/W.
