Klipsch launched the Designer On-Wall speakers in the Reference Premiere series, which combines fashionable design and signature sound. Essentially, the Designer On-Wall Reference Premiere speaker line replaces the Gallery line.
The creation of Life-style acoustics is not something new and unfamiliar for the American company Klipsch. Several years ago, the company already produced similar speakers in the Gallery series, which were in good demand. Klipsch has now developed the Reference Premiere Designer On-Wall models to meet new market demands and, of course, draw on its many years of experience in creating high-end horn speakers.
Designer On-Wall speakers are made on the basis of the same drivers as the other models of the Reference Premiere series, but they are made in flat enclosures made of non-resonating ABS plastic, designed for wall mounting. However, the delivery package for this line of speakers also includes a glass stand, which allows you to install the speakers on any suitable stand. The Designer On-Wall series speakers can be placed horizontally or vertically, they are endowed with high sensitivity and are perfectly compatible with any modern stereo amplifiers or AV receivers. The elegant AC protective mesh has a convenient magnetic fixation.
In total, the Designer On-Wall series includes four models – the RP-140D, RP-240D, RP-640D speakers and the RP-440D SB passive three-channel soundbar. Models differ in size and number of speakers. The RP-140D speakers are equipped with a 3.5-inch midrange/bass driver with a Cerametallic cone, as well as an inch LTS tweeter with a titanium dome in a Tractrix horn. The RP-640D model has six of the same speakers and a tweeter. The RP-440D SB soundbar, designed for connection to an external amplifier, has three two-way sets based on the same heads. For the buyer’s comfort in choosing and completing the system, Designer On-Wall series speakers are sold individually.
Soundbars have gained a lot of popularity – the best of them can create true surround sound – but the Klipsch RP-440D SB hardly belongs in this class. This passive speaker has three pairs of connectors for connection, that is, an AV receiver is needed for its operation; two of its channels will not be used.
The speaker provides a uniform sound stage with smooth and natural movement of images along the front. The Klipsch RP-440D SB has high sensitivity and is capable of developing significant sound pressure even with low power input. The soundbar is equipped with reliable screw input terminals, the cable routing to which can be done as discreetly as possible. Klipsch RP-440D SB can be installed on a special table stand made of tempered glass, or hung on the wall – for example, directly under the TV. The speaker body is made of high-quality high-density ABS and does not resonate even at high sound volumes.
The Klipsch RP-440D SB consists of three independent speaker systems in one housing, which allows it to simultaneously sound all front channels in a home theater. In this case, the passive design of the speaker provides for its connection to an AV receiver, which will provide the necessary decoding and sound processing. The Klipsch RP-440D SB can become part of a full-fledged home theater, which will have separate rear speakers, or work in surround sound mode provided by the AV receiver processor.
The central channel in the Klipsch RP-440D SB soundbar is represented by a pair of 3.5-inch woofers with Cerametallic diffusers, and one such speaker is installed in the left and right channels. Additionally, all three channels feature 1-inch titanium dome tweeters housed in updated Tractrix signature horns. The front panel of the Klipsch RP-440D SB can be covered with a protective mesh made of acoustically transparent fabric, which fits snugly over its curved front panel. If there is a mesh, the sound bar will be almost invisible in the interior, and if it is absent, it can become a stylish element of it.
