MartinLogan introduces seven next-generation Motion Series speaker systems. The new products incorporate all the main achievements and technologies of Motion, complemented by a modern updated design. It is expected that the set uses already proven audio components. First of all, these are branded Folded Motion tweeters, which have an extremely low diaphragm mass and, according to the manufacturer, are in many ways superior to conventional dome tweeters. Mid-range and low-frequency speakers are equipped with aluminum cones and more powerful magnetic systems. The isolation filters in all models are made according to the proprietary design of the company’s chief developer Joe Voitko, they use polypropylene and electrolyte capacitors, as well as custom-made inductors.
In addition, all drivers are connected to the amplifier through proprietary Vojtko crossovers – the company guarantees that, thanks to them, all drivers are in the optimal frequency range and balanced with each other. Motion cabinets are made from 18mm MDF with 31mm thick front walls. Externally, the cases are made in “pure” aesthetics, without visible fasteners and are equipped with fabric grills with magnetic latches. The models have thermal and current protection for the speakers; connection to the amplifier is carried out using a Bi-wiring or Bi-amping scheme.
The MartinLogan Motion 60XTi floorstanding speaker system has a three-way configuration and is designed for use in high-end audio systems. The speakers are based on proprietary speakers and have an uncompromising design that was developed to produce the best sound when playing music of any genre. MartinLogan Motion 60XTi cases feature deep internal damping and high-quality external finishes. The relatively narrow front panel of the speakers allows them to look good in the interior, however, due to the significant depth of the cabinet, the internal volume necessary to obtain deep low frequencies is achieved. To give the MartinLogan Motion 60XTi the necessary stability, the support spikes are placed outside the bottom panel on reliable holders.
The MartinLogan Motion 60XTi features dual 8-inch woofers with aluminum cones and a rigid dust cap. The speakers are mounted on a cast aluminum chassis and loaded onto an asymmetrically shaped internal acoustic chamber. The camera is equipped with a double bass reflex port, the output of which is located on the rear panel.
The midrange driver in the speakers has a diameter of 6.5 inches and is also equipped with an aluminum cone. This radiator is mounted on a molded polypropylene chassis, which has the best anti-resonance characteristics in a given frequency range. The speaker is loaded on its own closed internal chamber, which isolates it from influences from the low-frequency section. The signature Folded Motion XTi ribbon driver has very high performance, making the MartinLogan Motion 60XTi sound airy and detailed, accurately conveying the slightest nuances of music performance.
The speakers are equipped with a crossover filter made from selected audiophile-grade components. These are custom air core coils and polypropylene film capacitors with low signal loss. To connect to the amplifier, a block of two pairs of custom gold-plated connectors is used.
