M&K Sound celebrates its 50th anniversary and launches Volkswoofer Limited Edition subwoofer

The Danish loudspeaker manufacturer Miller & Kreisel (M&K Sound) is celebrating its fiftieth anniversary this year and is celebrating this with, among other things, the release of the Volkswoofer Limited Edition, a subwoofer based on a model from 1977. The company is harking back to its early years, but the Volkswoofer Limited Edition of course has modern technology on board.

M&K Sound Volkswoofer

On the occasion of its fiftieth anniversary, the Danish manufacturer M&K Sound is launching a tribute to the acclaimed original Volkswoofer subwoofer. The anniversary model is simply called Volkswoofer Limited Edition and is limited to only 100 copies. The Volkswoofer Limited Edition has the shape of a trapezium or a truncated pyramid with a high-quality, retro-style veneer that has been specially treated. M&K Sound indicates that the type of treatment gives each copy a unique finish.

A custom-made driver with a diameter of 300 millimeters (that’s about 12 inches) is mounted on the front. The driver has a double magnet and the cone can make a long stroke for powerful bass reproduction. The driver features a commemorative print on the large dust cover, which features the company’s striking slogan ‘Discover Deep Bass’ above the company logo and a ‘1974 – 2024’ 50th anniversary.

Together with contemporaries Arnie Nudell and Cary Christie, Ken Kreisel, founder of M&K Sound, developed the very first active subwoofers. The Volkswoofer Limited Edition continues the tradition by integrating a custom-made 300 Watt amplifier on the rear panel of the device. In addition, above the backplate amplifier is a recessed 50th anniversary commemorative plaque that reads “Limited Edition,” with an individual number out of the total production of 100. The gold motif can be found on the front panel grille of the Volkswoofer, which also features a gold M&K logo in the top left corner.

We have not yet heard price and delivery information, but a price between 2,000 and 2,500 euros is circulating in the rumor circuit.
