Nakamichi Dragon subwoofer

Nakamichi has unveiled a new organic component for its Dragon home theater system: an active subwoofer featuring a 12-inch driver and a powerful 750-watt amplifier. The name Nakamichi Dragon instantly evokes memories of the iconic cassette deck with three heads and auto-reverse functionality, which was manufactured from 1982 to 1993. While it may not be universally regarded as the greatest deck ever, it certainly ranks among the top three. By choosing to associate this legendary name with contemporary products, such as a home theater system, the developers have set exceptionally high expectations for themselves.

A survey carried out by Nakamichi revealed that 67 percent of participants favored a subwoofer with a driver measuring 12 inches or more, and 41 percent expressed a desire for three or more subwoofers in their home theater setup.

The manufacturer claims that this setup can produce bass frequencies as low as 19 Hz, supported by a robust 750-watt amplifier. This performance is significantly deeper and more impactful compared to full subwoofers that utilize 8-inch opposed drivers.
