Sun Audio unveils Purified 4 Modular Speakers and Plug&Play System

Sun Audio has launched a new version of its Purified 4 modular speaker, designed with a compact tripod stand suitable for tabletop placement. The Sun Audio Purified 4 Desktop features a 4-inch Purifi Audio woofer paired with a 25mm BlieSMa tweeter. Each model is equipped with a crossover specifically tuned for superior sound quality. Additionally, Sun Audio provides the Hypex NCore integrated amplifier with DSP, created in partnership with Nord Acoustics, capable of driving a pair of compact Atohm 9 subwoofers.

Sun Audio, based in the Netherlands, has achieved notable success with its modular Purified 4 speakers, designed for compatibility with external crossovers and power amplifiers, a feature favored by many Hi-Fi audio enthusiasts. The company emphasizes a modular approach to speaker system construction, providing customers with options for two distinct 4-inch Purifi drivers and various tweeters from BlieSMa. The two-way modular Purified 4 speaker system, supported by a robust three-legged steel stand, has gained significant popularity. Recently, the Dutch firm has launched the Purified 4 Desktop model, which features a more compact three-legged stand, making it suitable for placement on bookshelves, tabletops, or desktops.

The aluminum speaker cabinet is designed to minimize unwanted resonances, while its spherical shape ensures a highly uniform radiation pattern, resulting in an exceptionally linear frequency response. Internally, these spherical cabinets are cylindrical and are filled with Twaron Angel Hair damping material, with the internal volume tailored to match the chosen Purifi driver.

Customers can select between 4-inch drivers featuring either an aluminum or Fiber Paper Mix diffuser. Additionally, the tweeter option includes a 25 mm BlieSMa emitter, available with either an aluminum-magnesium alloy or a beryllium membrane. These advanced drivers are known for their very low nonlinear distortion, capable of delivering high sound pressure and outstanding dynamics. Each configuration comes with specialized crossover settings provided as a DSP profile.

The Purified 4 modular speakers feature a robust enclosure made of either Bloodwood or black thermoplastic, flanked by Jet Black powder-coated aluminum front and rear panels. Users have the option to pair these speakers with third-party crossovers and amplifiers, or they can choose a comprehensive solution from Sun Audio, which now includes a pair of subwoofers designed in partnership with the renowned French driver specialists Atohm. For those seeking a straightforward setup without the need for a DSP crossover and amplifiers, Sun Audio provides an integrated amplifier equipped with preset DSP profiles for a plug-and-play experience.

The Nord DSP-DAC NCAS500MP amplifier, developed in collaboration with the British firm Nord Acoustics for the Sun Audio Purified 4 speakers, incorporates Hypex NCore amplifier modules along with integrated Hypex DSP and DAC technology. The amplifier comes pre-loaded with a DSP profile specifically designed for the Purified 4 speakers, providing a straightforward Plug & Play experience. Additionally, the Nord DSP-DAC NCAS500MP offers both digital and analog inputs, speaker terminals for connecting tweeters and midwoofers, and outputs for active subwoofers. A remote control is included with the unit.

The full Sun Audio Purified 4 Desktop package, which includes a Nord DSP-DAC NCAS500MP amplifier, is priced starting at $5,234. Additionally, incorporating a pair of Atohm 9 subwoofers will increase the total cost by $2,300.
