SVS Ultra Evolution Pinnacle: Flagship floorstanding speakers

SVS Ultra Evolution Pinnacle
SVS Ultra Evolution Pinnacle

The American company SVS from Ohio presents its flagship series of Ultra Evolution acoustics consisting of seven models. The curvature of the front wall of their cabinets is designed to align the points of sound radiation in the vertical plane – this is an acoustically centered architecture of the case with time synchronization. The series includes Pinnacle – 3-way floor-standing speakers; two more three-way floor-standing speakers – Titan and Tower; then two 2-way bookshelf speakers, a 3-way center channel system and a universal speaker for home theater with a mounting bracket for mounting on walls and (or) ceilings.

In the floorstanding models, the midrange and bass drivers, positioned above and below the tweeter, are designed to create an idealized “point source.” The diamond-coated aluminum dome tweeter, first introduced by SVS in the Ultra Evolution series, was a major technological challenge that the company had not previously tackled. The tweeter cone is protected by an “organic cell” grille formed using a “semi-random pattern derived from organic cell structures,” which optimizes off-axis frequency response and dispersion characteristics.

The three Ultra Evolution floor-standing speakers use the same woofers used in the SVS 3000 Micro subwoofer model in the form of double oppositely directed pairs in the upper and lower parts of the body. Their diffusers, like the midrange diffusers, are made of fiberglass composite with an excellent stiffness-to-weight ratio. The baskets are precision aluminum casting. The crossovers use premium capacitors, coreless inductors, precision resistors, and printed circuit boards with thick conductors. The company claims that the sound character of the Ultra Evolution speakers is fully compatible with both the SVS Prime and original Ultra models. In addition, the SVS Ultra Evolution speakers received removable grilles with neodymium magnet mounts, elastomer bumper legs, and metal spikes installed in the floor speakers.
