The Audio-Technica AT-LP120XUSB is direct drive and supports 33.3, 45, and 78 rpm rotation speeds, which are selectable with two buttons and adjusted using a strobe light and markings imprinted on the aluminum platter. To vary and adjust the rotation speed, use the Pitch Control fader, which is paired with a quartz lock button. In this case, you can also use the key located behind the fader to select tuning ranges within 8 or 16 percent. A felt mat is placed on the support disk to prevent vinyl records from slipping.
The player’s well-damped chassis rests on height-adjustable feet. The Audio-Technica AT-LP120XUSB has an S-shaped tonearm with selectable tracking force, an adjustable anti-skating system and a hydraulic microlift. The tonearm has a removable AT-HS6 headshell, to which a factory-installed AT-VM95E cartridge with a double moving magnetic system and an easily removable elliptical profile stylus is attached. A backlight is installed on the top platform of the case to ensure more comfortable operation of the player in the dark.
The Audio-Technica AT-LP120XUSB model has an integrated phono stage board with the ability to turn it off, for which there is a corresponding slide switch on the rear panel. There is also a USB output for connecting to a PC or Mac, which allows you to digitize a vinyl disc using Audacity and save a PCM copy of it in 16-bit/44.1 kHz or 48 kHz resolution on your computer’s HDD or SSD. The Audio-Technica AT-LP120XUSB player is equipped with an external power adapter, thereby eliminating the influence of noise and electrical interference on the sensitive signal. For connection to an external RIAA corrector or to the linear input of an amplifier/AV receiver/active speakers there is an RCA output on board. The model is equipped with a dust cover, an adapter for 45 rpm records and cables.
The Audio-Technica AT-LP120XUSB continues the evolutionary line of the previous DJ version LP120-USB, but differs from it with a new, more efficient high-torque DC motor, as well as an improved built-in phono stage.
