Hisense A85N: A high-performance OLED TV featuring an impressive brightness of 1000 nits

Hisense A85N

While Hisense primarily emphasizes miniLED LCD technology, the company remains committed to delivering outstanding OLED televisions. The latest model, the Hisense A85N, is equipped with an enhanced WOLED panel that is compatible with high dynamic range video formats, including HDR10+ and Dolby Vision. In a statement released prior to the IFA 2024 trade show in Berlin, scheduled for early September, Hisense announced that the A85N 4K OLED TV, which succeeds last year’s A85K, will be available for purchase in Europe starting in September, offered in 55- and 65-inch sizes.

Hisense, a member of the QLED Alliance established in 2017 to advocate for an alternative to OLED technology, has redirected its marketing efforts towards miniLED technology, which, similar to QLED, utilizes conventional LCD panels. The latest Hisense A85N TV features the WOLED 2024 panel from LG Display. According to Hisense, this model can achieve a peak brightness of 1,000 nits, a claim that appears credible, as the LG C4 TV, which is also based on the same panel, reaches a peak brightness of 1,100 nits.

Hisense emphasized the A85N’s compatibility with various HDR formats, including HDR10, HDR10+, HLG, and Dolby Vision IQ. Additionally, it supports IMAX Enhanced, Dolby Atmos, DTS:X, Filmmaker Mode, and several HDMI 2.1 features such as ALLM and VRR tailored for gaming. However, it is important to note that only two of the HDMI ports are capable of handling HDMI 2.1 bandwidth. Designed for the European market, the Hisense A85N TVs are equipped with the proprietary Vidaa operating system version 7.6, which offers access to a wide range of popular streaming applications, although it does not include certain local apps specific to the Chinese market. The television is also provided with a swivel stand.

Hisense has announced that the Hisense A85N televisions will be available for purchase starting September 2, offered in 55-inch and 65-inch sizes. The price for the 55-inch model is set at €1,600, while the 65-inch version will retail for $2,200.
