Sonos Sub Mini: Compact wireless and powerfull subwoofer
Sonos presented a compact version of its wireless subwoofer. The subwoofer received a concise and recognizable design and convenient integration with Sonos speakers .
How much is the Sub Mini smaller than the Sonos SUB (Gen3) ? The Sub Mini has the shape of a cylinder with a height of 305 mm and a diameter of 230 mm and weighs 6.35 kg, the original model has dimensions of 389*402*158 mm and weighs 16 kg, which already requires quite a large space. These differences in size and weight mean that the two Sonos subwoofers now have their own recommended uses.
Sub Mini is intended for use in small and medium-sized rooms; a regular Sub is best for larger spaces. The company anticipates that the Sub Mini will work in tandem with Sonos Beam or Sonos Ray soundbars for home theater. If you’re buying it for music, the Sub Mini pairs well with the Sonos One or Ikea Symfonisk single or stereo speakers. The Sub Mini is also recommended for small amp-powered bookshelf speakers.
Both Sub and Sub Mini share similar design features. The Sub Mini features dual 6-inch forced-compensated woofers that reproduce “surprisingly deep, dynamic bass while minimizing hum, rattle or distortion, so you feel more immersed in every scene and song.” A cutout in the center maximizes airflow for improved bass reproduction.
Sonos creates a dedicated 5GHz wireless connection between the soundbar and subwoofer to prevent dropouts and other audio issues. You can adjust the bass level in the Sonos app, and as with the company’s other speakers, adding the Sub Mini to your system is a simple matter of tapping your phone on top of the product.
Like any other home theater setup, adding a subwoofer to your Sonos system can take it to the next level. This allows the subwoofer to handle the low frequencies while allowing your soundbar or speakers to focus much more on the highs and mids instead of manipulating the entire frequency range.
