FiiO BTR15: Pure power in a compact device

FiiO introduced a new version of the portable jack/amplifier for headphones with Bluetooth – FiiO BTR15. The DAC is an update of the famous FiiO BTR5.

The upgrade starts at the very heart of the BTR15, namely the cores that power it. BTR15 uses a high-performance combination of Qualcomm QCC5125 Bluetooth chip and 16-core XMOS XU316 processor, which supports stable high-resolution audio playback in any mode. BT mode supports all Hi-Res Bluetooth codecs up to 96kHz, while PC/Phone mode supports up to 384kHz/32bit PCM and DSD256 decoding, and even a full MQA decoder.

In addition to the standard 3.5mm unbalanced headphone output, the BTR15 also features the widely used 4.4mm balanced headphone output. Thanks to the thoughtful internal design, the power output has been completely improved.

With this in mind, FIIO engineers have developed an independent power supply for the ES9219MQ headphone amplifier section, resulting in a cleaner and more reliable headphone amplifier output. Compared to the BTR5, the output power of the BTR15 is increased by 40% to 340mW at balanced output and by 56% to 125mW at unbalanced output.

In the FiiO BTR15, FIIO uses a new generation of curved glass for the first time, integrating it into both the front and back of the device. Thanks to this, the device is not only more comfortable to hold, but it is also 6.4 g lighter than the BTR5. Coupled with the aluminum alloy frame, they make the BTR15 comfortable to use – using a portable DAC has never been more comfortable and convenient.

The FiiO BTR15 is also equipped with a large, bright screen – an excellent 0.96-inch OLED display. Not only does this display show more information at once, but it also allows for larger fonts, making it easier to see the device’s status and change various settings.

Features:

  • Bluetooth chip: QCC5125 (dual-core CPU+DSP architecture);
  • codec support: LDAC, aptX Adaptive;
  • 0.96-inch OLED display;
  • Bluetooth support: 5.1;
  • DAC: ES9219MQ x 2;
  • the maximum power of the balanced connection is 340 mW.
