Cambridge Audio has announced a new product line of loudspeakers. The new MSX series follows in the footsteps of the earlier Minx loudspeakers. The range offers more or less the same specifications, the same compact dimensions, and the same modular design that allows the speakers to be stacked. All models in the range will soon be available in matte black or matte white.

The new MSX series consists of the MSX10 and MSX20 members, compact satellite speakers, and the MSX Sub 200 and 300 subwoofers. The design concept is a versatile, modular system that can be expanded for larger spaces or provide sound to the smallest environments. The speakers can be used for stereo and multi-channel sound.

Cambridge has utilized the fourth generation Balanced Mode Radiator (BMR) technology, which, according to the designers, promises an open, coherent sound with an exceptionally wide dispersion. This is achieved by combining the dynamic performance of the speaker unit with a waveguide, which should result in a very wide sweet spot. The sound is balanced and engaging, regardless of where the listener is located in the room, according to the manufacturer.

The latest driver offers higher efficiency, a wider high-frequency response, and smoother integration across the entire frequency range. The larger MSX20 features the same driver as the MSX10 but also includes a woofer/midrange driver for more weight and greater impact.

Naturally, there are also dedicated subwoofers for extra power. The MSX Sub 200 and MSX Sub 300 promise depth and power without overwhelming the room. Their forward-facing drivers, highly efficient Auxiliary Bass Radiators (ABRs), and precise Digital Signal Processing (DSP) ensure that the music continues to sound accurate, even at high volume.

The difference between the two lies in the dimensions. The Sub 200 has a 200-watt amplifier and a 6.5-inch diameter driver, while the Sub 300 is equipped with a 300-watt amplifier and an 8-inch woofer. The housing is, of course, also slightly larger.

The members of the MSX series can be connected to any amplifier or AV receiver, using 4 mm banana plugs, among others. The satellites can be wall-mounted. Optional swivel wall brackets and table stands are available. They can also be stacked on top of each other, although sound dispersion will be much greater if they are spaced further apart.
