Dynaudio will present a special preview of their brand-new Legend high-end monitor loudspeaker at the AXPONA hi-fi show in Chicago. This loudspeaker, handcrafted in Skanderborg, Denmark, is positioned by Dynaudio as ‘the reference for luxury passive monitor loudspeakers.' The Dynaudio Legend targets both music lovers with an eye for design and lifestyle and the most demanding audiophiles.

With the Legend, Dynaudio presents, by its own account, a combination of reference-quality sound reproduction, a striking design, and build quality you would sooner expect in an architecture magazine. The Legend is a loudspeaker with style.
Otto Jørgensen, Head of the Dynaudio Academy, sums it up as follows: “Legend is the best ultra-compact loudspeaker we have ever made. It combines the retro charm of our most legendary products with amazing versatility and exceptional acoustic performance. The result? A top-class listening experience that sets the new standard for high-quality compact loudspeakers.”
The Dynaudio Legend features an unmistakable retro design, inspired by iconic models from the past, such as the Compound series (1986) and the impressive Consequence loudspeakers (1984). Attentive enthusiasts of the brand will recognize the same curved, handcrafted corner details (an extremely difficult process to master, even for experienced craftsmen), the distinctive finish, the exposed screws, and the robust construction.
Each loudspeaker is constructed from internally reinforced MDF and features a unique veneer layer of natural rosewood. The veneer is carefully selected and matched, after which the panels are joined by hand. As a result, every pair of loudspeakers is unique. Although there is no production limit, every set leaving the factory is an individual masterpiece.
The Dynaudio Legend is equipped with the brand's most advanced acoustic technologies. The 28 mm soft-dome Esotar 3 tweeter (with Hexis dome) – Dynaudio's best tweeter – handles the highest frequencies. The Esotar 3 can also be found in the company's flagship loudspeakers, such as the Confidence speakers and the reference M-series professional studio monitors.
Below (or above, depending on placement) sits a 15 cm reference-quality mid/bass driver, equipped with a specially developed strontium carbonate ceramic magnet system. The diaphragm is made of Dynaudio's proprietary MSP (Magnesium Silicate Polymer) material, which offers the perfect balance between weight, stiffness, and damping. This ensures a reproduction of low and mid frequencies with a precision and power that you would normally only expect from much larger drivers.
Crossover filter and bass port
Dynaudio engineers have designed the stepped first-order crossover filter to be as simple and elegant as possible. It uses air-core inductors and high-quality Duelund capacitors, all optimized for maximum performance and precision.
The bass port with ‘funnel-shaped' outlets on both sides is directly derived from that in the Confidence 20, while the connection terminals are the same WBT NextGen connectors as in Dynaudio's Confidence, Contour 20 Black Edition, and Contour i loudspeakers.
The Dynaudio Legend is now available for 6,000 euros.
